Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Blossom House Daycare

1. What age groups do you accept, and what type of daycare are you?

Blossom House Daycare welcomes children from 3 months to 5 years old, providing nurturing care and developmentally appropriate activities. We are a licensed small family daycare, approved to care for up to 8 children in a warm, home-like environment.

2. What are your operating hours?

We’re open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on most federal holidays.

3. Do you allow outdoor play or time for infants under 6 months old?

Yes, with parent permission, we take infants—including those around 6 months—outside. Our turf-covered backyard offers a safe, cozy space for gentle outdoor time. Natural sights and sounds support sensory and developmental growth.

4. What is your pickup and drop-off procedure or policy?

A: We offer flexible drop-off hours between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM, giving parents more control over their morning routine. Drop-offs after 10:00 AM are discouraged, as they can disrupt our daily schedule.

Pickup is flexible until 5:00 PM. After that, late fees may apply in accordance with our policy. We kindly ask parents to send a quick message via Procare, especially around pickup time—ideally 5 to 10 minutes before arrival—so we can prepare your child for a smooth transition home.

5. Do you have an assistant, and can you tell us more about her?

Yes, we have an assistant! Ms. Rhiannon Pereira is a Long Beach local and graduate of Ernest McBride High School, where she earned High Honor Roll recognition for academic excellence. She brings a gentle, patient spirit and a genuine love for working with children. With experience as a teacher’s aide and active involvement in the Red Cross Club, Rhiannon works part-time alongside Mrs. H and is a valued part of our nurturing team.

6. Does Blossom House Daycare support employer-sponsored childcare reimbursement?

Yes! We’re happy to assist by signing the necessary paperwork for employer-sponsored childcare reimbursement. As a licensed daycare and registered S Corp, Blossom House Daycare Inc. is officially recognized by the California Secretary of State and registered with the IRS. We also have an Employer Identification Number (EIN), You can find this information listed on your tuition invoices, and it's also available upon request. While we’re glad to support families in this process, we always recommend checking with your employer and CPA, as we cannot guarantee reimbursement or provide tax advice.

7. Do you accept subsidized childcare programs for low-income families?
At this time, Blossom House Daycare does not accept subsidized childcare programs. However, we understand the importance of affordable childcare and encourage families to explore financial assistance through local agencies. Helpful resources include the California Department of Social Services and the Child Care Resource Center, which offer guidance on subsidy programs and support options.

8. What is your tuition and payment policy?

Tuition rates vary based on your child’s age group and schedule. Payments are due every Friday for the upcoming week. Our preferred payment method is Zelle (562-625-7088), and we also accept checks payable to Blossom House Daycare Inc. We do not accept credit cards or other payment platforms due to high transaction fees.

9. Are there any vacation benefits for families?
A: Yes! Blossom House Daycare offers generous vacation perks. Families are not charged when the provider takes two weeks of unpaid vacation each year. In addition, each enrolled family receives one free week of vacation, totaling three weeks of free childcare annually. While we don’t offer sibling discounts, our competitive rates help keep quality care affordable. Full details are available in our daycare handbook

10. What does a typical day look like at Blossom House Daycare?

Children enjoy a balance of structured learning, free play, meals/snacks, nap time, and outdoor activities. Our schedule is designed to promote early childhood development in a fun and engaging way.

11. What is the enrollment process at Blossom House Daycare, and how can families join the waitlist?

Families can contact us through Yelp, BlossomHouseKids.com, email, or text to schedule a weekend tour (by appointment only). During the tour, you’ll receive our handbook, ask questions, and get a feel for our nurturing environment.

Families may join the waitlist at any time. The waitlist requires a small fee, and this amount is applied toward your registration fee once a spot becomes available. The form is included in our handbook and can also be emailed upon request.

When a spot opens, we will send you the enrollment packet and guide you with any questions about the forms. A deposit is required before the spot can be officially secured. You’ll also need to provide your child’s immunization record and complete all required documents to finalize enrollment.

12. What is your illness policy, and what is the reason behind it?

Blossom House Daycare follows a strict sick policy to protect the health and well‑being of all children, families, and staff. Children must stay home if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, persistent cough, rash of unknown cause, or any other contagious symptoms. They may return once they have been symptom‑free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication.

Young children share toys, surfaces, and close play spaces throughout the day, which makes illnesses spread quickly. When one child attends while sick, it can lead to multiple children becoming ill, staff absences, and disruptions to the entire program. Enforcing a clear sick policy helps us maintain a safe, predictable environment and ensures we can continue providing consistent care for all families.

As a licensed daycare, we are required to follow state health guidelines and cannot operate like a drop‑in babysitting service. Because illness is a normal part of early childhood, we strongly encourage families to have a reliable backup plan—such as a trusted family member or babysitter—ready for days when their child is not well enough to attend.

13. What is your approach to discipline and behavior guidance?

We focus on positive reinforcement, redirection, and gentle guidance, ensuring children feel supported and understood while learning appropriate behaviors.

14. Do parents need to provide meals?
A: Yes, parents must send their child’s meals and snacks each day. We encourage nutritious, balanced options to support energy, focus, and development. For safety, children do not share food—this helps us manage allergies and dietary needs. We have a refrigerator and freezer available to store perishable items. If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know so we can accommodate them.

15. What safety measures are in place?
We are a licensed daycare, committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment. Our supervised play areas and attentive care ensure children's well-being and security. I am certified in CPR for adults and children, as well as pediatric nutrition, health, and safety protocols.

16. How does Blossom House Daycare use the Procare app?

At Blossom House Daycare, we use the Procare app to keep parents connected and informed throughout the day. With real-time updates on diaper changes, feedings, naps, and special moments, you’ll always know how your child is doing. The app also makes communication effortless, allowing parents to check in, ask questions, or receive updates with ease. Our goal is to ensure that communication remains transparent and convenient, giving you peace of mind while your little one enjoys their day in a safe and nurturing environment.

17. What is the policy on immunization? Do we need to provide proof?
A: Yes, all licensed daycares in California require proof of immunization for enrollment. Families must provide their child’s up-to-date immunization record when completing the enrollment packet. This ensures we meet state health regulations and maintain a safe environment for all children.

18. At what age do children usually transition to one nap?

Most children transition to one nap between 14 and 18 months, though the exact timing varies for each child. Some toddlers are ready as early as 12–13 months, while others may continue with two naps until 18–20 months.

Children are often ready to move to one nap when they consistently show signs such as resisting the morning nap, taking shorter naps, pushing bedtime later, or staying happy and energetic even when a nap is skipped. When these patterns continue for 1–2 weeks, it’s usually a sign they’re ready for a single midday nap.

19. Do you offer potty‑training support, and how do we know when our child is ready?

Yes, we offer potty‑training support once your child shows signs of readiness. Most children begin to show interest between 18 and 30 months, but every child develops at their own pace. Readiness signs may include staying dry for longer periods, showing awareness of wet or dirty diapers, following simple directions, communicating needs, having predictable bowel movements, or showing interest in the toilet. When these cues appear, we partner with families to create a consistent, gentle potty‑training routine that works both at home and at daycare. There is a small additional fee for potty‑training support, and you may contact us or ask during your tour for full details.

18.  What makes Blossom House Daycare unique?

At Blossom House Daycare, your child will experience consistent, high-quality care with the same dedicated provider, Mrs. H. Unlike larger daycare centers, where frequent staff changes can disrupt a child's sense of security, we prioritize stability and continuity in all aspects of care. As both the daycare owner and primary caregiver, Mrs. H ensures a nurturing environment that supports each child’s emotional well-being, development, and daily routine. This consistency fosters a strong caregiver-child bond, creating a deep sense of comfort and trust helping children feel safe, supported, and confident in their surroundings.

Here, every child is valued, every milestone is celebrated, and every family becomes part of a warm and caring community.
